Health Inequality
What are health inequalities?
Health inequalities are the unfair and avoidable differences in people’s health across social groups and between different population groups.
Early Intervention
BCHWF is committed to improving health and reducing health inequalities by working with partners and communities. Our motto is that ‘prevention is better than cure’ and we do this by developing health and well-being projects which target the most deprived members of the community. Our organisation is a grass-roots organisation, engaging with local people, gathering local intelligence and sign-posting members of the community to appropriate services. If you are interested in funding one of our projects then please do get in touch.
Healthy Eating
In today’s fast-moving society with fast food becoming an ever more demanding necessity, it’s never been more important to maintain good healthy eating habits. Doctors generally recommend eating a balanced diet with correct proportions of food and drink, to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
Physical Activity
Adults are strongly recommended to carry out physical activity every day for the following reasons:
- Any form of physical activity is considered better than none for example walking, cardio etc.
- Exercise when done properly helps to control ones weight management and helps to lose excess weight.
- Exercise also help to lower many diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.
- The application of different exercise activities greatly contributes to improving ones mental health and mood, which in turn helps to improve, thinking, learning and judgmental skills and ward of levels of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem.
